The power grips for the Fixed gear bike are quite good. My only beef is that it is a bit tough to get into them, especially on the fixed gear bike when your "slip-in" time is greatly restricted. However, I have size 13 shoes which may compound the problem. But they are really nice once you get locked in, and you can wear dress shoes if you must without mucking them up, which is important for me. It is also really easy to release from these, which is critical given the idiotic drivers in Tucson.

4.0 out of 5 stars A different feel, April 8, 2012

I started to look into different pedal cages/straps because of toe-overlap problems with my Pista. Toe overlap is a mostly avoidable problem, but around campus there are a few narrow handicap/bike ramps where you can't really choose to time your turns. I thought to try shorter cages, but these caught my eye first. Because the strap design doesn't have a steel or plastic cage, my toe overlap problem was fixed.

The two other main concerns I have in mind are effectiveness and ease-of-use.

I wear typical athletic shoes, size 9, and use these straps with track cycling-kinda pedals. I have the straps set up about as tight as possible with the given attachment holes, and they're pretty snug, but sometimes just a bit loose. If your feet/shoes are smaller, it's possible they might be a bit loose, but this also depends on the size of your pedals.

These straps allow you to pull with your upstroke pretty effectively. These are a necessity for climbing hills or... Read more

I use these for my school commute. Makes riding more efficient. At 20 dollars, it's up to you whether or not think it's important. Once you get them in, it's simple to get out, but my power grips like to face the ground (easily explained by gravity) so there's that. Since I didn't want to get special shoes and pedals, as well as get an injury due to falling (as with other pedal straps), these were the obvious solution. I am quite happy with the product.
